    Competition : “To Be Polish” – www.swiatnatak.pl

    Dear Friends

7th edition of the competition “To be Polish”.

Actually it began on 6th November in the Zygmunta Minerki Secondary School at the Polish Embassy in Athens. You can view some photographs from this fantastic event on the website of the Foundation www.swiatnatak.pl
This school year is a year or remembrance and celebration of 1050 years of the Baptism of Poland (Chrzest Polski). Through this baptism Poland has been accepted to the Christian Europe, which provided her with fast development and the beginning of Polish statehood. Looking back through many centuries of our history will enable us to prepare interesting work for our competition. Several thousands of artistic works, which have entered the competition during last six editions show, that the competition can be of great help to teachers in teaching history and Polish language, as well as strengthening the Polish identity in the young people.

In this addition we suggest several topics, divided into age groups:

Group 1, age 6-9 years Birth of Poland art
Group 2, age 10 – 13 years 1050 years of the history of Poland – creative writing

  • AQA takes a unilateral decision to scrap the A-level in Polish from 2018.

AQA takes a unilateral decision to scrap the A-level in Polish from 2018.

The Polish Educational Society has published a petition objecting to the planned removal of the A-Level Polish exam 2018.

    Excerpt from the published petition:

    We strongly oppose this decision.

Polish immigration to the UK, since EU enlargement in 2004, far exceeds that of other EU countries. The 2011 census showed that 579,000 UK residents had originally been born in Poland. In addition there has been a sizeable Polish community in this country since the Second World War.

The growth over a ten year period in the number of candidates taking Polish A-Level is remarkable. French decreased by 26%, German by 28%, Spanish increased by 33%, Chinese by 74%, Russian by 90%, and Polish by 1000%. ……..

Visit Change.org to see and sign the petition.
